Matt on Tour [30 Dec 2006|08:40pm]

[ mood | bored ]

On 24th Feb Matt plays The Pyramids in Southsea, Portsmouth. I'll go alone if I really have to, but frankly I'd rather not. If anyone would like to come with me they can kip over at my place if need be. Tickets are £12.50 or £14.50 if booked online.

It's also just after my birthday, which is nice.

[13 Nov 2006|10:45pm]

Hiya. I'm from M-w.org and I'm just trying to spread the word of our new feature the "M-Blog" so named because I'm slighty uncreative. It will be the quickest and most entertaining way to find out how Matt's doing in the Jungle [bar watching him lick his beard on your TV set. Believe me he licks it a lot]. Its not quite operational yet but it should be by the end of tomorrow. Thanks

Scans of the article and poster... yadda yadda, credit to me and the community if you want to rob them for a website.

And let's ignore that I bought a copy of It's Hot at my age, yes?

Here be words and pretty pictures...Collapse )

Matt interview in Total:Spec magazine [18 Aug 2006|08:22pm]

[ mood | okay ]

I was in Borders today looking for Nylon magazine, I didn't find it but while I was in there the words "Matt Willis" caught my eye on the front of a magazine called Total:Spec - I'd never heard of the magazine before but there it was.

Anyway, while it doesn't really tell us anything new there's quite a good 2 page interview with Matt in it. I didn't buy the magazine as it's £3.20 but I read it in the store.

Here's the magazine's webpage and you can't read the words but here's what the 2 pages of Matt look like

[ mood | okay ]

The new video for "Hey Kid" is up on Matt's myspace now

I'll admit that I really liked the original one - this one is good too though. Funnier and my Mum will be pleased that he's not wearing his hair like Hitler anymore.

Click there and click ten, cos I think it's a good idea to get him into the top 10 :D

Matt on "John Tucker Must Die" poster [03 Aug 2006|04:11pm]

[ mood | geeky ]

I saw this poster while I was in town today and had to take a picture of it (well, after I'd pointed excitedly at it! Lol) - check out the bit right at the bottom:

See? Here's a close up pic of it:

Hey kid. [02 Aug 2006|11:16pm]

Hey Kid.
Right people, there needs to be some serious promotion going on for this because I don't personally feel that there is enough being done and I have barely seen the Hey Kid video on the music channels, so we are going to have to change that. If anyone still bothers reading here and stuff can they post up some numbers and stuff for music channels? And don't forget there is a new video out on friday. And if you like looking at crotches you will like it.

Matt ordered to lose weight? [23 Jul 2006|11:48am]

[ mood | confused ]

Matt Willis has been ordered by his record company to lose weight.

The former Busted star failed to impress executives with the video for his forthcoming single Hey Kid - so the singer has been offered a personal trainer.

"When bosses saw Matt bopping away in his new video they decided he didn't look in good enough shape for the pop market," an insider told the Sunday Mirror. "They made it clear it was time to fight the flab and get fit. So they've hired a personal trainer for him.

"Matt is not the lithe young teenager he once was. If he was a normal person, he wouldn't be classed as overweight but on TV everyone looks heavier."

From DigitalSpy

Bloody cheek! Mattie looks fine!

Just incase I was the only one who noticed it... [12 Jul 2006|11:39pm]

'Hey Kid' appear's in the adverts for the new film Stormbreaker. Not sure if this means Matt's involved in the soundtrack or not though.

Hmmmm. [04 Jul 2006|11:44pm]

Not sure that this will help anyone. Apparently Matt is at some Guildford Roadshow on Sunday, I don't actually have many details, but I actually think it would be nice for people to go cos no one ever seems to be anywhere for Matt.

So If anyone has anymore details please post them.

[23 Jun 2006|02:29pm]

Quite a long one -
Again, all about Emma + Rehab....hmm

Exclusive Pop singer Matt Willis celebrates beating his addiction to alcohol by moving in with his girlfriend and launching a solo career

FORMER Busted star Matt Willis says winning his battle with the booze means he can now move in with his beautiful girlfriend, MTV resenter Emma Griffiths.

Matt cites Emma as being the real inspiration behind his decision to have a spell in a Priory rehab clinic, where he was treated for alcoholism last year.

Before the treatment, he claims he couldn't contemplate sharing a home with Emma because she would have found bottles stashed around the house.

Matt said: "Things could not be better with Emma. She stood by me through think and thin and now we are thinking about moving in together. It's wicked.

"Living with Emma will mean she'll se very flaw in my character but now I don't have so many flaws. Before she

would have seen that I was a p***-head and quite how much I was drinking. Iwas always hiding the alcohol. Now I don't have that and I'm more than happy for people to see the real me."

Having checked out of rehab, Matt is now checking out homes for sale in the Highgate district of London and is hoping to snap up a house close to former Wham! star George Michael.

He said: "We'll start looking for a place soon. I live in Crouch End but I'm going to look in Highgate so I can become George's neighbour."

When Charlie Simpson quit Busted to form Fightstar, it was Matt who turned down the chance to continue Busted with founding member James Bourne.

Meanwhile his drinking had spiralled out of control.

Matt said: "I did resent Charlie, but not in an evil, vindictive way. I didn't have a voodoo doll or anything but of course I was annoyed because it was my band too.

"James called me up after Charlie left and asked me to carry on but it was my decision not to. It looks sad and desperate when bands do that. I was drinking because I didn't want to deal with anything or look at myself and realise what I wanted to do with my life.

"I never woke up in the morning and had a drink but I'd wait until 11.30am and think, 'that's OK, that's beer o' clock'.

"I was an idiot. But that was my way of thinking I wasn't an alkie because I had waited until a certain part of the day when the pubs were open. It was stupid.

"I was making everyone around me unhappy and bringing everyone down, including Emma.

"But now I'm in a really happy place. I have never been as happy as I am now." The 23-year-old added: "I left home and joined the band when I was 16.

"It was weird being in a band and especially a band like Busted.

Suddenly I felt quite institutionalised.

"When Charlie left none of us knew what to do. The management gave me space which was the worst possible time for me because, left to my own devices, I get into trouble. I get bored, do silly things and think too much.

"When the band finished I was like, 'What do I do? I don't even know what Ihave to do every day'. I was used to people picking me up in the morning.

"My band had broken up and I was avery unhappy person. I realised I didn't have a grasp on reality. I'd lived my life in hotels and my flat was always a mess. It is still full of rubbish.

"Put me up in a hotel and I'll order you the best room service you've ever had in your life but I'd just stare blankly if you asked me to turn an oven on."

Matt admits he checked into The Priory because he feared his career and his relationship with Emma was at risk.

He said: "It was a weird time for me. I was having relationship problems because of my drinking and me being a clown. My music wasn't going well.

"I had all these problems going on and realised I couldn't be what I wanted to be. I had to get rid of them.

"At times I wanted out of there (The Priory) and told them I was not as bad as the other people there, only for them to tell me that's what everybody says.

"There were things going on around me that I wasn't in complete control of. I needed to sort a few things out in my head and I did that. I went to rehab more as a means of prevention. I didn't want to become that person you see in the local park.

"I rang Emma and told her I was going to get help and she was happy I had said that. But the next day, I really wished I hadn't because now I was going to have to follow through.

"I told her I'd been hasty with that but the ball was rolling and my tour manager Adam, who was awesome, was dropping me off at the gates."

Matt bounced back with recent solo hit Up All Night and his forthcoming album features confessional songs, such as Luxury, which is about his spell in rehab.

"You are allowed one luxury. Emma would come and visit me at weekends and seeing her pulling up at the gates was the most awesome feeling," he said.

"So I went there and sorted myself out. Even though I don't live my life by all their rules, there are a few things they said that I do live my life by.

"Once I came out I had to keep a check on a few things. I don't drink alone and I don't drink at home. But if I am out and about, damn right.

"They tell you things in a place like that which stick with you forever. When I realised I was in a mental health clinic, I thought, what am I doing here?"

Matt points out that being dubbed 'the new RobbieWilliams' because of his experiences is absurd.

He said:"It's weird. I don't see myself like Robbie because he's a megastar. He is huge. If I sell millions of albums maybe you could say I'm the next Robbie, but for now that's premature.

"Musically I don't see the similarities but I can see personality-wise why people say that because I get called a cheeky chappy all the time. If I hear that one more time I am going to scream.

"I just feel weird about this Robbie comparison. I don't want anybody to think I'm out to take his crown.

"Everyone is looking for the next big thing but Robbie is still around. Why look for another one?"

'I was bringing everyone down but now I'm in a happy place'

I nicked it off the Matt Boards, but I thought I would post. Was I the only one that found it hilarious?

Matt video clip on HMV.co.uk [22 Jun 2006|06:28pm]

[ mood | amused ]

You all might already know this but I was bored and I was looking around the HMV website randomly and I looked here (just to check I had the date in my diary) and I noticed the bit above the track listing that says "for a special video from Matt click here". If you go to the site and click you can see a little message from Matt telling you that you can pre-order his album on HMV.co.uk!

New, and info for people [07 Jun 2006|09:41pm]

Hey. First off, mcjo's just pointed me in this direction, so hello all :)

Secondly: I recieved an email from Birmingham City Council today about the T-Mobile fan park that they and BRMB are running during the World Cup. And they have three gigs set up to coincide with the three England group matches - basically they screen the matches, but before that there is billed to be 5 hours of live entertainment.

And as part of this live entertainment, on June 15th (next Thursday), Matt is gonna be performing. Looking at the info, as it's an England game I think they're charging, but more info can be found here, which is also where tickets can be booked - it's at Millenium Point in Birmingham.

I, sadly, can't go as I'm working that day and I can't take it off because there's a meeting I need to be in. However, I thought I'd share the knowledge in case anyone fancies it :)
